Lockdown 3.0 Diaries #4

No fish and chips again. Oh well. Hopefully they will be open after 14 days.
Should've never opened social media. First thing that I saw is Private Sectors Are Finally Giving Covid Vaccination. Great. Everyone should be happy. Oh no, no, if you look at the comments, you'll see a lot of negative things, like "The queue is extremely long," "Too many people," Seriously, you can never please everyone.
Same old song and dance. Don't people get tired of the same enquiries? Because I certainly do. Oh, I miss Zumba a lot. Ever since I started shift jobs I barely had time to go and run and break out sweat to keep myself healthy. I also miss going to the movies (usually I go with close friends or alone), getting sushi and ramen. Yeah, I hope to God that our cases go down, because it's really stressing everyone out.
This year there's not much new books coming out. I think so far I only managed to get Chain of Iron - Please don't hate me, I don't like this book, mainly it's due to the slow plot, and I feel like throttling Cordelia. Seriously, I can't stand it, every time something is going to happen between James and Cordelia, things tend to happen, very convenient timing. At least it's a vast improvement from Clary, could never stand her. It wasn't about her tomboyish traits, it's the fact that when I try to connect to her, I feel that she is extremely selfish, and if I have to hear one more time how Jace is gorgeous and handsome, I'm going to throw the book. I have a love/hate relationship with the Shadowhunter series, and weirdly enough, I like the side characters and villains more. Shadowhunters, do not come for me, this is just my opinion. Then again, if I haven't read the books, I wouldn't have discovered the TV series and movie -, I got the last book of the Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (it's okay, I feel a little weird, but it's okay) and Meg Cabot is coming out with a new book, No Words. Great. So far I haven't heard anything from JK Rowling. Anthony, I hope I can see a new Alex Rider series (So far I heard there's two more books before the series end)
Whoa wait a minute, does this mean you read Twilight and Fifty Shades as well? I did, and I'm ashamed of it, because the writing were lack luster. Twilight was the overall ridiculousness of it. The starting point wasn't that bad, but I could never wrap my head around the sparkly vampires and how perfect they were. The books were poorly researched as well, and personally, I don't buy the excuse of "I didn't research on vampires." I admit, I'm scared to death with horror films, I can take horror novels, but there's also a limit on how much I can take. I grew up with Buffy and Angel, at least their vampires were interesting and have personality, whereas the Twilight vampires were...bland, I'm sorry. I would've put vanilla but that's something I'll reserve for the next topic at hand. The second and last book was the final nail in the coffin for me that when the spin off series came out, I outright refuse to read them, because there's no point. I already dislike the book, I won't be able to give an honest review, but if you go to Youtube and type it in the search bars, you can get several booktubers' review on the books.
Ah Fifty Shades, I never understood the hype around it. The only thing that I could recall was that my friends begged me to read it to give a review about it. I got the books and...I feel like I need bleach. Here again, it's another example of a poorly researched book. I don't read erotica, the only works whose erotica I read is Abigail Barnette's The Boss series, which is how Fifty Shades which should have been written. I discovered her works purely by accident, highly recommend you read her Jealous Book Club's take on the trilogy, and you can read her first The Boss series for free, and you can see a vast difference in the writings. People around me kept claiming that it is a romance novel. I can tell you I have flipped the books back and forth several times and I can't find anything romantic about it. If you want me to give my opinion, I feel that it is glorified abuse. I'm going to say it, the characters are bland, and the erotica scenes are vanilla. There, I say it. It's a shame that I have carried for several years, I wished I have never heard of these two book series, then again, there's a good side to it as well: It taught me that you have better make sure you do your research properly, because readers aren't dumb. They can tell if you don't do your research. Writing fiction is fine, but at the very least, get the foundation right. BDSM is consensual on both sides, and the one who is control is the subordinate, not the dominant. I don't know much about the culture, I research the basic, and it's a subject I don't like touching on. If you want to find out more, you can search on the world wide web. Again, you can also try reading on Abigail Barnette's The Boss series, she is able to emphasize it better than I do.
Just because we write about the subjects at hand doesn't mean we do it in real life. No, I do not worship the devil or Satan. Just because I started off writing horror novels doesn't mean I do those things, and I don't murder people despite writing a crime fiction novel. You'll be surprised on the amount of people asking me whether I do any of those things. Same goes for Abigail, just because she writes about BDSM doesn't mean she does it. Don't ask me how I started off writing horror novels, because till this day I ask myself the same thing. Life can be so strange at times.
Will you ever give an interview on how you got started on writing? I share my thoughts time to time over here. I won't ever give an interview, because I have crippling anxiety, and the most I'll ever agree to is an email interview, even then I will only agree if my close friends interview me.
Have to stop here as my lappy ran out of juice.
