Didn't give much thought of a booster dose. I just thought if I get it, then it's fine, if not, then we'll see how it goes.
Initially didn't plan on taking it at first because I thought of trying not to take too much meds, but after getting assurance from my primary doctor, I thought of taking it, then I found out I couldn't get it because my vaccine isn't over 6 months yet. My second dose is on 17th May, so if we were to count 6 months, tomorrow would be exactly 6 months. Because the vaccine centre is just right next door, I can see the board constantly being updated. Last I saw it was on the 15th (before this it was around April...?), c'est la vie.
After several discussions and due to the cases slowly rising again (not to mention the demands are coming back — Last few days the calls and enquiries has been crazy), today I found out that the date got changed to 20th November. Wait a minute... And a memo also came out saying that staffs are allowed to walk in during evenings at a certain time provided there's not many people and demands are still available. I got a friend who was working at the centre as well. I bumped into them on the weekend and mentioned out of passing that I am unable to take my dose as it wasn't 6 months yet, and they said, "You can walk in anytime in the evening once 6 months passed..."
To avoid being turned away, during lunch hour, I approached a staff member who is free at the time and showed them my digital cert (I also carry my physical vaccination card at all times just in case) They were very sweet and helped me check, and I was allowed to get my jab earlier. They told me to come back in the evening when the crowd has dispersed.
Because I was a complete fool, I didn't thought of bringing food. Prior to any vaccination, you need to make sure you get some food into your system. I thought of taking instant noodles since I didn't want to spend much, but everyone is telling me to get some proper food. Recently, I rekindled my love for aglio oglio, so I went to get some with grilled chicken. At least that's something. ð
❗ CHECKLIST FOR VACCINATION ❗
✔️ IC (Identity Card/ Passport)
✔️ Handphone (With proof of your digital cert)
✔️ Consent Form
✔️A small bottle of plain water (Need to stay hydrated)
ð· Mask is mandatory at all times. No excuses please.
ðŽA jacket (Vaccination centres are cold, so bring it if you need it)
Went at 2 pm, was asked to fill up the consent form. Was immediately sent to the triage counter and since I was in uniform and I more or less knew how the process goes. Was whisked off to the consultation station to get an assessment. The perks of being a staff is everyone more or less knew each other, they just just needed to make sure that I didn't have any serious side effects from my previous double dose or ended up in the Emergency Department before this. Then I was given a sticker and I was directed to the registration counter and given a number. This would be around 2.05 pm. After waiting for a while, I was guided to the vaccination station, where my old junior administered the vaccine to me. (Good grief, I don't remember the needle being that long) Don't worry, it wasn't painful. It's just a tiny sting. Booster was administered around 2.10 pm.
Went to counter 5 and was asked to scan a code and fill up an online form. Once done, I was sent to the observation station and was observed for 15 minutes. It was smooth sailing (The staff were very friendly and welcoming) and I left by 2.30 pm. As I'm writing this it was near night time as I just woken up due to feeling a little fatigued, both from work and the booster, so far I haven't have any severe side effects yet, and that's good. If you have the chance to get your booster, please do so. Get another additional protection to protect yourself and the people around you.
*Post vaccination update*
Had a splitting migraine and felt feverish. Re-checked temperature every few minutes, ranges between 36.6 to 36.8 degree Celcius, but my whole body was feeling hot. Nearly missed work but I took 2 Panadols and managed to get through the shift. Slight numbness in the arm is expected, pain is bearable.
Follow up, felt much better. A little tired, but at least I don't have splitting migraines and my temperature is back to normal at 36 degree Celcius. Thank God. Arm still has some slight numbness, but the pain has somewhat subsided.
